We all want to go fast but don’t discount slow cars. Slow cars are the best cars to learn in. There is a reason Formula Ford bred so many F1 champions. If you look at top-line racing in the USA: IMSA Sportscars and Indycar in particular, plenty of drivers in those series cut their teeth on the Mazda ladder, the first rungs of which involve Miata, or MX5 as they are called this side of the pond, racing.
Slow cars teach you to conserve momentum rather than point-and-squirt. They also tend to be one-make series so they also teach valuable lessons in race-craft.
They may not be so ‘cool’ but ignore slow cars at your peril.
